The beach-boutique hotel, opening in February 2013, is the sister property to The Beach House at Iruveli Maldives, and is set to be east Sri Lanka’s most exclusive address. All 32 suites overlook the sea and have their own butler, and most have private plunge pools, while two beach pavilions, each with a swimming pool, are big enough to accommodate family and friends.
The Beach House is set up for beach- and body-holidays; there’s a water sports centre, including a PADI dive school (there are long shallows and reefs along Sri Lanka’s east coast, and the sunken HMS Hermes, nearby, is one of the world’s most challenging wreck dives), tennis courts and a gym, as well as a spa and a library. At night, a shared 30-metre infinity pool glows with fiber-optic lighting. And the hotel’s restaurant is aiming to be the finest-dining experience in the region. It’s even got a wine cellar – a sign indeed that the area is on the up.
