Magnificent bays, long stretches of palm fringed beautiful golden beaches and rocky headlands line the South Coast of Sri Lanka while a thick cover of lush green stretch inland. A developed tourist area with more simple accommodation, an easy-going friendly and laid-back atmosphere with plenty of small restaurants and local shops to delight in. A little away from the ocean a few Kilometres inland from Bentota, is the beautiful 15 acre estate of Lunuganga, fashioned by the famous Architect Bawa, into a place of Extraordinary beauty, bordered on two sides by the Deduwa Lake. it features rolling lawns positioned to carefully exploit the fabulous vistas over the lake ,tropical jungle and paddy fields.
The railway line from Colombo hugs the inviting ocean as it goes south, while the newly built southern Highway travels though unsploit countryside of plantations and village life.
